I was told that October is the prefect time to be in Greece: the temperatures are mild and the tourist season is waning. In this travelogue, I chronicle my experiences, impressions, and photos from my wonderful, two-week tour of Greece.
Heading in the direction of Athens to catch my flight, I stopped off to see the ancient theater at Epidavros, then I visited Cape Sounion, where the Temple of Poseidon stands.
Nafplio is a quaint seaside town on the Peloponnesus. It was built by the Venetians when their empire stretched to these parts, so the buildings have a Venetian style. It is said Nafplio is the most romantic city in Greece.
I drove up to Meteora, a cluster of monasteries perched high atop narrow rock outcrops. The geology and the monasteries on them are equally impressive.
I spent the better part of a week in Athens attending a conference, but also taking in the sights. There are many things to see, but the Acropolis and the Plaka below is what draws me.
