Morocco

We return to Casablanca only because we have a flight to catch here tomorrow. This time, rather than stay downtown, we opted to stay at one of the seaside hotels. This was slightly better, at least we had the ocean beside us.

Fes is the place to be in Morocco. The cultural lifeblood of Morocco, the city is tucked in the Atlas Mountains, where the air is cooler. The medina is so confusing here, we were helpless without a guide.

Marrakech is a city in a hot, low-lying basin. It survives during daylight, but blossoms at night. I liked this city: the people are open, sometimes too open, and it is an exotic place. That being said, I was ready to leave this harsh environment behind when we left. Life is hard here.

We flew to Casablanca intending to stay two nights, but one we got to our hotel, an amazingly difficult task, and walked around town a little, we canceled our second night and decided to leave the following morning. We did walk through the medina and over to the massive Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic Ocean, but little else drew us to stay.
