Great Basin National Park is an mountainous oasis surrounded by the dry basin below. We hiked up to bristlecone pine forests and to the glaciers below Wheeler Peak.

We spent these two days on a driving binge. We left our friend Fitz's house in Scottsdale, Arizona in the evening, encountered a vehicular homicide, then drove through the night arriving in Las Vegas at dawn. We cleaned up in one of the casinos and continued on through Death Valley and on to Yosemite in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
