New England Camping

Some of my favs from a recent camping trip in New England. We seemed to encounter a lot of waterfalls, some fog in Maine, and some great views.

Forest Brook

A babbling brook in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

For the hero image, I chose this babbling brook in the woods. I loved how it creates a path of light that flows down the mountain. I also love seeing islands of light in a dense forest.

The Flume Gorge

The Flume is a small gorge in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I wanted to capture the running water, but it’s nearly impossible with all these people trudging past me, vibrating the walkway. But, it’s dark enough in here to shoot the scene without a filter, so I’m happy.

Flume Narrows

The Flume Gorge narrows toward the top.

Avalanche Falls

Avalanche Falls feeds the Flume Gorge and formed after the great storm of 1883.

Maine Beach

The beaches in Maine are rocky, for the most part, the water is cold, and there’s a lot of seaweed. Because of the configuration of the coastline, the tidal range is also pretty extreme.

Seaweed

Seaweed exposed at low tide.

I wanted to emphasize the mossy seaweed on this rock by subtracting all the color out of this photo except for the greens and yellows. I like how it turned out, except for the footprint at the top. I suppose that would be easy enough to photoshop out…

Murky Maine

I thought the fog that rolled in off the ocean in Acadia was beautiful. I wanted to capture the soupiness of the harbor.

Fog Hat

An island near Bar Harbor, Maine covered by fog.

Shades of Blue

Layered Terrain

Hazy, blue mountains seen from Blue Mountain Lake.

One of those “shades of blue” photos, with each layer taking on a different shade of blue. This is in the Arirondack Mountains in upstate New York.
