Wilderness Vacation

Woods of Maine

We began our trip in central Maine. We hooked up with the Appalachian Trail near Monson, Maine and had a camp set up on Sebec Lake. The northern end of the Appalachian Trail is not too far from here. This is a photo of the Little Wilson Falls, with a stopped down aperture and a slightly longer exposure.

Northern New Hampshire

We drove up past Moosehead Lake in Maine and ducked into Canada a bit so we could come down into the northern tip of New Hampshire. It’s very woodsy here, and there are very few roads or towns.

This first photo is of Lake Francis. It’s a bit ordinary, but I liked the lighting from the mixture of sun and clouds. The second photo is another timelapse waterfall—in this case, Beaver Brook Falls. Hard to shoot this because of how spread out it is.

Higley Flow

We stopped briefly in Higley Flow State Park in northern New York. It’s centered around a dammed lake. Its most annoying feature were the screaming ravens that were the most annoying bird I’ve heard.

This starry scene is a 22-minute exposure, taken from our campsite. The orange glow on the trees comes from our campfire, which is dying out at this point.
