Lake Powell Vista

We stopped at some vistas overlooking Lake Powell. Someday, I want to take a boat around the lake—it looks absolutely beautiful. These photos are from an overlook on the Utah-Arizona border with views of the Wahweap Bay and toward Page, Arizona.

This first photo is a contrast between blue lake and red earth, remoteness and industrial. The Navajo power plant seems to appear out of thin air, and makes one wonder, who would build a plant here given there’s little evidence humans live anywhere near it. Of course, there is a town nearby, it just seems hidden from view.

Black and white shows the contrast between water, earth, and sky. The dead hulk of a volcano, having been eroded down over eons, sits between Wahweap Bay and Warm Creek Bay.

Lone Rock rises from the lake on the Utah side, and a sandy, shadeless campground is located on the beach.
