Coastal Roadtrip

The idea was to take a roadtrip, try to be pandemic-aware, and avoid crowds. We decided to take the scenic route and hug the east coast, stopping and staying in beach towns along the way.

Our route took us to Rehoboth, Delaware, then south over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge into Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We continued on Route 17, to Myrtle Beach and Charleston (where there were crowds of maskless people), then onto the beaches of Florida, all the way to Miami and Key West.

Outer Banks

For the first time in a long time, I was awake for the sunrise—which is extraordinarily rare. These are phone pics, I left my SLR behind for some reason. In fact, a lot of my photos from this trip are from my phone.

Charleston

Trees star in these two shots from the old part of Charleston. I do love wide-angle lenses…

These shots adequately sum up our time here. Finally it’s warm!

Made it to Miami!

We made it to Miami Beach, where the water is clear and warm, even in January.

Key West

Oddly, birds are the subject of my favorites from Key West. I didn’t set out to shoot birds, rather, they presented themselves to me.

Unidirectional birds

Birds own this pier at Key West. On the upper deck are your generic pigeons. Below them are a unidirectional flock of black skimmers.
